Our staff will still be available through all the regular channels (phone, email, etc...) and can be contacted during normal business hours. Our fire and electrical inspectors will be prioritizing and conducting electrical, fire, and life safety construction inspections statewide. The building, electrical, and systems plans examiners are also available to conduct plan reviews. It is also important to note that services such as electrical permit applications and licensing for electricians are all online with personal support, if needed, by calling 307-777-7288 during regular business hours. The Wyoming Fire Academy will also remain closed to the public until further notice, while still providing essential services. Regional training services are still available, as well as certification testing needs, per state social distancing guidelines. An online training schedule for the 2nd Quarter of CY2020 has been created and these courses are being populated on the training calendar located on the WSFM website. http://wsfm.wyo.gov/training/statewide-training Fire investigation services remain in place and investigators are available 24/7 for assistance. Requests for an investigator need to be made by contacting Wyoming Highway Patrol Dispatch at (307) 777-4321. Around the State Laramie County Fire District #2 is accepting applications for the position of Resident Firefighter. Laramie County Fire District #2 is located just north of Cheyenne, WY. The district runs within the Interstate-25 and Interstate-80 corridor. LCFD#2 is an All Hazards Department, covering approximately 1,100 Miles of Laramie County. Description: While learning the ropes of a career as a firefighter, the LCFD #2 Residency Program offers a unique experience. LCFD#2 prepares young men and women for a career as a firefighter and sets them up with the tools necessary for success. Students in the program are given the opportunity to get certifications necessary for a full time job, achieve an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, and have real world experience. With dormitory style living in the fire station, students in the program are able to get the full experience of life as a firefighter, and live at the station free of charge. Essential Duties: Responding to Emergency calls (Once training has been completed), station maintenance, earning an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, interacting with the public. Resident Firefighters will be assigned to a shift, and be expected to carry out all operations assigned that day. Requirements: · Students pursuing a fire science degree · At least 18 years of age · Valid driving license · Insurable driving record · Lean Criminal background check · Nationally Registered or Wyoming EMT within 6 months of hire Benefits: · Up to $1,000 in tuition and books per semester · $300 per month stipend · Dormitory style living (no rent or utilities) · Hands on training · Modified Kelly Shift schedule · Opportunity for Firefighter I & II, as well as HazMat.
